Sometimes it’s quite stressful to travel in New York: it’s noisy, there are loads of individuals, and vehicles are crowded. It can be a bit of a nightmare to be frank. But if you use the subway system frequently, you know there may also be some pleasant times.
You find some very skilled street musicians every now and then who make your day a little better and brighter.
Mike Yung has been singing in the subway for over 37 years and he’s got so much soul in his voice that when you hear him you can’t help but stop in your tracks.
In the clip below, Mike sings a truly magical rendition of “Unchained Melody” that blows everyone away.
I had goosebumps all over when I first heard this performance. You don’t often hear a singer with such emotion and enthusiasm.
You can see that some commuting New Yorkers were, for a couple of minutes, swept away to another place.
This video got Mike Yung the subway singer a ticket to America’s Got Talent, where he made it to the semifinals.
